St Peter’s Primary School’s brand had become fragmented over the years. Not only was the logo inconsistent, but with Latin no longer being taught, the tagline ‘Veritas’ (meaning ‘the truth’), had lost its relevance to the students. St Peter’s introduced ‘TRUE’ values – an acronym for Trust, Respect, Unity and Excellence. These values referenced ‘veritas’ and became a core part of the school’s culture and brand language.


The brand required a refresh that would unite the corporate identity and TRUE values to create a modernised branding scheme that maintained the historic characteristics of the Dominican segregation.


Inspired by tangrams, simple icons were developed that reflected each TRUE value and were then integrated into the St Peter’s logo. The result is a modernised and simplified crest that maintains the core characteristics of the Dominican symbol but now aligns with the school’s TRUE values.


By combining the TRUE icons with the school faction colours, a library of visual assets were developed and used to create a suite of characters. In the future, students will be encouraged to create their own tangram icons where the outcomes are only limited by their own imagination.
